Breadth Freshener

Breath Freshener .org is dedicated to providing quality information on the subject of choosing the  correct breath freshener just for you.

Call it what you will: bad breath, breath odor, dog breath, dragon breath, fish stink, morning breath, oral malodor, stink mouth, stinky breath, and yuck mouth. All of these are terms that mean only one thing: halitosis. Halitosis is usually defined as any noticeable unpleasant odor being emanated by the person when he or she breathes.

It can be caused by many factors which can include: poor health, poor dental hygiene, and consuming halitosis inducing food items. Buying a breath freshener (or two) can help mask the bad odor somewhat, but this is only a temporary solution to a possibly lifelong problem.

If you really want to get rid of halitosis for good, here are a few natural breath freshener remedies you can try.

1. First, try to get a clean bill of health from your doctor. You need to rule out any possible underlying medical condition for your halitosis. Acid reflux, bronchial or lung infection, carcinoma, chronic liver failure, diabetes, gastrointestinal fistulas, metabolic dysfunction, putrefaction of the tonsils, renal failure or infection, sinus infection, tonsilloliths (calcareous growth in the rear of the mouth,)

Also trimethylaminuria (or fish odor syndrome) are all potentially dangerous conditions that can cause halitosis. Successfully treating or controlling these conditions usually removes all symptoms of oral malodor.

2. Schedule an appointment with your dentist or dental hygienist. Sometimes, all it takes to get rid of that fish breath is to have your teeth regularly cleaned by the pro. Regularly and thoroughly brushing your teeth and flossing can help, of course.

More often than not though, trapped bacteria and other stubborn mouth debris must be eradicated with the use of professional tools. At the same time, mouth wounds and gum diseases (e.g. xerostomia or dry mouth, oral ulcers, blackened gums) can also cause halitosis, and these can be best treated or controlled by your dentist.

3. Avoid food, drinks and other “items” that may cause halitosis. Alcohol, coffee, garlic, nicotine, and onion are some of the more notorious products that can cause immediate or chronic bad breath. Instead of buying mouth wash or breath fresheners or mint candies, which can help mask the stench but not remove it; you might want to snack on crisp vegetable or fruits instead. Fresh apples, carrots, celery, pears are but a few examples of crisps you might want to include in your diet.

4. Try adding more bad-breath-removing herbs in your diet or your dental cleansing routine. Herbs like aloe vera, anise seeds, cloves, coriander, fennel, fenugreek tea, fresh mint, and parsley have antibacterial properties that can eliminate most bacteria in the mouth, and thereby keeping halitosis at bay.
